A UK based global strategic brand agency is looking to add a PHP Software Engineer into their Creative Technology team due to significant business wins and an exciting 2021 ahead. In this role, you will work on large scale web applications for one of the biggest FMCG names in the world, and an array of other clients based all over the globe. You will help take these sites and applications to the next level.

You will be a Software Engineer that can own and also drive projects forward. You will have strong opinions when it comes to technical quality based on your experience. You don't just know how to do things the best way, but you can also articulate and speak up on this. You don't just want to build, but you want to take ownership of these builds. You don't just want to tick things off a list but you are passionate about delivering functionality that will impact clients and people. 

The Role

  • Develop, record, and maintain cutting edge web-based PHP applications
  • Work in the entire web application development life cycle right from concept stage to delivery and post-launch support
  • Refactor, optimize and improve the existing codebase for maintenance and scale
  • Use test-driven development and acceptance tests to ensure feature quality


  • Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming
  • Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Ability to produce detailed specifications of your work
  • Knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions
  • Knowledge of database design principles
  • Experience managing websites (or products) in production environments
  • Experience creating suitable architecture to manage sites with >1m pageviews per month with 99.99% uptime.

Bonus Points

  • GitHub, BitBucket, or GitLab with examples of your work
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms. We use AWS (EC2, RDS, and S3), but if you have experience with Azure or GCP, that’s great, too
  • Experience with a variety of CMS built on PHP, including Drupal, and WordPress
  • Proficient with PHP frameworks such as Symfony or Laravel
  • Familiarity with modern front-end development principles and tools
