Nine Twenty are delighted to be recruiting with their long-term client based in the heart of Glasgow for the next stage of their growth.

Due to continue to success, they are looking to add a talented Senior PHP Software Engineer

You will be joining a fast-paced environment that’s technically challenging, working with latest trends in PHP.

As a Senior, you will have a level of technical freedom and be capable of making decisions on technologies that you’re not an expert in, by synthesising information provided to you by the project team.

If you are passionate about development and have the desire to continually up skill, then you will succeed in this environment.

Your key responsibilities & duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Working with senior technical staff to choose architecture and most appropriate technologies for the project.
  • Undertaking code reviews, and providing evaluation and feedback on the production of work.
  • Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP packages.
  • Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
  • Integration of data storage solutions.
  • Attending project retrospectives and contributing as appropriate.
  • Help mentor junior team members
  • Team player - You’re able to work effectively in team.
  • Take ownership of development of core platforms and systems.
  • Work with the business to maintain scale and develop new features and functions across platforms.
  • Input ideas in early stage project scoping whilst being free to contribute to improvement of platforms.

Essential experience:

  • Minimum 5 years application development experience in PHP required.
  • Modern framework experience: We would love to see one of the following: Symfony, Laravel or any MVC framework.
  • An understanding of big data and associated database challenges.
  • Consuming and developing REST APIs.
  • SCSS/CSS and HTML development experience.

Preferred experience in any of the follow:

  • VueJS, GULP, Webpack.
  • Mobile focused.
  • Strong front-end skills, JavaScript and JavaScript framework development experience.
  • Social platform API’s.
  • Kannel & SMPP.
  • AWS infrastructure.
  • Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment.
