Nine Twenty are now recruiting for a Senior Automation Engineer to work on a permanent basis in central Edinburgh for a successful global Technology Company who are now expanding their current platform and SaaS product offerings by using cutting edge technology.

In this role you will be responsible for the overall design, maintenance and execution of automated testing of data and web products using a variety of automation and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools.

As the Senior Automation Engineer, you will be providing direct line management at an operational level to Automation Engineers and Test Analysts (whilst remaining hands on) to ensure that the team are working at the highest standards to meet business objectives.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Software Manager (Test), to provide a consistent approach to Test leadership
  • Designing, maintaining and executing automated testing of API and Web Service test data and web products on multiple platforms and devices ensuring consistency and sufficient test coverage
  • Building, maintaining and developing a plan for upskilling the existing team and new recruits to become automation engineers
  • Managing automation training and development information and being responsible for all automation content on the internal Wiki
  • Providing guidance, direction coaching and mentoring for reporting test team members, and others when applicable as well as taking responsibility for the administration of holidays, absence

Desired Experience we are looking for:

  • Significant experience in test disciplines and automation testing
  • Significant experience in the practical application of object oriented design principles
  • Extensive experience and ability to design, develop and deploy automated solutions
  • Proven experience of managing fast-paced small teams that follow Test agile methodologies with proven leadership capacity
  • Ability to define and implement plans for driving, improving and maintaining automation
  • Ability to script UI, API and micro services in technologies such as C#, Java, JavaScript, AngularJS
  • Ability to define automation plans with regard to chosen databases such as SQL, NoSQL, and JSON
  • Ability to define automation plans for testing cloud based solutions such as Microsoft Azure, AWS
  • Ability to apply automation frameworks using best practices
  • Technical mentor and great team player
  • Ability to cultivate leadership and progression throughout the team
  • Ability to implement succession planning and flexibility across the team
