Nine Twenty are excited to be working in collaboration with our client in the search for a Lead UX Designer in the heart of Edinburgh. Our client have worked with one of the worlds best known organisations in developing learning product and service interventions that are truly user centric while, at the same time, delivering what their clients need.

Our client are a diverse, friendly and passionate bunch based in the heart of Edinburgh. With an office environment that is open plan but focused, with a dog or two occasionally in attendance! Working flexibly but collaboratively to ensure that they are creating innovative and user centric learning interventions.

 

The Role:

The Lead UX Designer is responsible for driving the strategic delivery of user research, user interface design, and user testing to elevate their product offering to the next level. Throughout conceptual, investigative and approval phases, you will represent the voice of the end user to ensure new products and services delight the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain a deep understanding of user needs and goals and effectively communicate these to cross-functional teams.
  • Design and facilitate workshops and design sprints.
  • Conduct and/or commission user research in order to identify needs that can be addressed and met through product development.
  • Collaborate with local and remote product teams to help launch features and improve existing functionality.
  • Work closely with a product owner on backlog prioritization.
  • Create task flows, wireframes, prototypes, interactions and refined designs for development.
  • Develop concepts in line with technical capabilities, usability standards, and business strategy.
  • Test ideas to incorporate user and team feedback.
  • Create visually refined and functional interfaces that users experience as intuitive.
  • Partner in an agile development process to provide UX specifications and guidance.
  • Work with developers and product owners to achieve a high quality user experience.
  • Promote user experience best-practice and ensure knowledge sharing amongst the team.
  • Direct and guide others within a collaborative environment, including external/outsourced designers, to deliver against requirements. 

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in standard UX software.
  • Ability to deliver evidence-based recommendations.
  • Designs must show strong understanding of interaction design, web accessibility standards, and commercial revenue generation.
  • Leadership in the design and execution of end-to-end product design initiatives, including both remote and on-site user research and acceptance testing.
  • Ability to extract detailed UX requirements from both internal and external stakeholders, and translate these into elegant, end user product designs.

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in digital product development, and the ability to translate this into actionable and commercially relevant recommendations.
  • Knowledge of design for revenue generation in a B2B and B2C environment.
