As Head of Technical Services, you will manage the team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the internal IT infrastructure including their award-winning Cloud Platform. The role encompasses total ownership of the infrastructure ensuring optimal performance for external and internal customers. This is a challenging and highly technical role which will require a hands-on approach but will give the successful candidate exposure to all levels of our business.  A strong background in networking is a must for this role.

Responsibilities

Leadership –

  • Managing a team of highly technical individuals.
  • Enable your team to operate effectively 24×7, in line with customer demand and contractual requirement.
  • Strong organisational skills to lead the Technical Services Team in prioritising appropriately to meet the business needs.
  • Drive culture change and organisation integration including people, process and systems.
  • Review risks within your team and the services you are accountable for, review regularly and escalate accordingly.

 

Financial – 

  • Develop plans to ensure team OPEX and CAPEX costs are optimised.
  • Understand the commercials associated with delivery of ITIL based services in a IT managed Service organisation.

 

Functional – 

  • Ensuring 100% uptime of all critical systems.
  • Working with our ITIL Service Desk to manage Incident/problem/change to strict SLAs.
  • Release management and managing capacity planning on the infrastructure estate.
  • Working closely with our customers to deploy industry leading cloud services.
  • Continual improvement and development of management systems/processes to ensure optimal performance of the Infrastructure.
  • Leading the ongoing development of the network (WAN & LAN), utilising Cisco ACI software defined networking to deliver highly secure and resilient services to both internal and external customers.
  • Responsibility to ensure all best practice maintenance is completed on the infrastructure to ensure maximum reliability of all services. All works will be completed within the ITIL framework ensuring industry standard approaches to support the business in meeting client SLAs.
  • Participation and management of an on-call rota ensuring adequate business support of the 24/7 operations.

 

Technologies

Experience in the following areas are essential:

  • Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking.
  • Experience with either service provider or enterprise IP networks using Cisco ASR and/or Juniper routers.
  • WAN technologies.
  • Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • VMware.

Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage:

  • vSphere
  • AWS
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Cisco HyperFlex and FlexPod
  • NetApp storage systems
  • Cisco ACI software defined networking
  • Cisco Security – Firepower / AMP / Umbrella
  • Meraki / Fortigate firewalls
  • BaaS – Rubrik/Cohesity/Veeam/Zerto
  • Trend Micro
  • Solarwinds Monitoring
