Head of IT

The Head of IT is responsible for providing high quality, effective, specialist IT services and support for the business, including management of the IT Infrastructure, telecommunications and business systems across all of the Company’s sites. This includes the responsibility for developing and delivering the IT strategy which supports the overall business strategy.

Duties

The Head of IT is responsible for managing a critical part of the business which provides IT infrastructure, systems and support services to users, technical staff and production areas: -

  • Leading the IT Department’s Ops and Apps functions and developing the IT strategy
  • Manage the deployment, maintenance, and support of all IT systems including PCs, servers, networks and OS.
  • Managing resources to ensure high levels of service to internal and external customers.
  • Oversee and manage the administration of the Company’s IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Ensuring the security of the IT systems, Company data and infrastructure.
  • Develop, maintain and test Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
  • Management of resources to support IT related projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Management of suppliers to achieve best value & quality for the Company and make recommendations for renewals and new contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and promote IT strategies & policies to ensure compliance with the Company’s regulatory and quality standards for information systems.
  • Management of all IT systems, including operating procedures, system validation, system design.
  • Providing technical knowledge and experience to support the IT strategy.
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with staff at all levels of the business, promoting the benefits of IT and providing feedback to staff on IT developments.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Professional qualification in IT (degree or equivalent) in an IT related subject

Experience:

  • Developing and managing a complex multi-site IT organisation
  • Managing an IT budget in excess of £500,000
  • Vendor management and tendering processes
  • Configuring Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, wireless and telephony systems
  • VMware vSphere 5
  • Experience of implementing and support ERP systems and BI reporting tools
  • Experience of programming in languages such as Visual Basic and SQL
  • Microsoft Exchange 2010
