Nine Twenty are now recruiting for a Business Development Manager to work within field sales for our logistics sector client in the Derby location.  This role is paying £39,000 - £45,000 basic depending on experience, plus car allowance and 20% commission.

This is a target driven role that demands high degree of drive and resilience balanced with strong relationship building skills.

You will be selling our full range of forwarding and logistics services including air, sea and road freight from SME through to Corporate.

Previous sales experience is a must and proven track record of selling worldwide sea and air freight services essential.

Other responsibilities will be:

  • Build and consistently grow new sales territory through generation of new business and development of existing accounts in line with individual and branch targets
  • Source effective sales leads through varies means to maximise the growth of your territory
  • To complete a thorough profile of your customers’ needs to enable sales and operational support to provide the most appropriate service
  • Work with Operations and Sales Support to create innovative and tailored logistics solutions
  • Develop your customer base by ‘upselling’
  • Quote customers directly and negotiate to secure business
  • Monitor the profit margins of the sales territory and ensure customer tariffs are kept in line with market rates
  • Maintain good awareness of industry standards, legislation and competitor insights
  • Responsible for creating standard operating procedures for clients and liaising with Operations to ensure the smooth running of the account.
  • Conduct regular review meetings with clients to ensure service levels are maintained.
  • Promote the company’s products and services confidently through presentations and software demonstrations.

Must have:

  • Significant successful sales experience selling worldwide sea and air freight services
  • Super verbal and written communication skills and a proven track record of building customer relationships
  • Ability to close quick win opportunities over the telephone and convert larger opportunities with a longer sales process through face-to-face visits
  • Excellent knowledge of Freight Forwarding
  • Clean Driving Licence
