The Assistant IT Systems and Applications Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the organisations systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The Assistant IT Systems and applications Administrator is also responsible for all aspects of systems administration including networks, applications, databases, and telecommunications.  In addition, any other duties as requested by senior management. Understanding business requirements and translating these into system and application solutions will also be a key part of this role.

Duties:  

SUPPORT THE ORGANISATIONS IT/COMMUNICATIONS NEEDS

  • Develop IT proposals to fit organisations future needs.
  • Support existing IT infrastructure and assist Maintenance Team as/when required.
  • Monitor and maintain shop floor IT systems to ensure minimum downtime.
  • Propose IT purchases for authorisation by others.
  • Regularly monitor, maintain and develop IT systems.
  • Liaise and Support with ERP programme managers on change projects
  • Jet Business Analytics and reporting
  • Database development
  • Keep up to date with current issues in IT.
  • Ensure organisation secure from external threats.
  • Assist IT group develop future IT and application strategies

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company IT policy.
  • Maintain effective disaster recovery plan.
  • Develop bespoke solutions where required.
  • Project manage any day to day IT/Communications projects.
  • Informally train/educate staff in use of IT.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Educated to a high standard (degree in computing or other IT related subject).
  • OR qualified by experience in the industry in a related position

Experience:

  • Experience working in an IT environment.
  • Good Communication Skills.
  • High standard of confidentiality.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of current IT best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of various software packages.
  • Knowledge of current legal environment for IT and other admin issues.
  • Knowledge of Cisco products is desirable however not essential.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and without supervision.
  • Ability to handle and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work with staff effectively.
  • Problem solving.
  • Any experience with Microsoft Dynamics Nav ERP would be advantageous
