Meet our brand new technology Account Manager, Sophie Norton

 8th Feb 2018

After a busy start to 2018, we're excited to announce the addition of a new Account Manager to our growing technology team. Sophie Norton joined Nine Twenty Technology last week and is also new to Glasgow, so we've already been sharing our tips for the best things to do around town out of office hours! We caught up with Sophie to find out more about her move.

Sophie Norton - Nine Twenty Technology

  • Sophie, what does your new role within Nine Twenty Technology involve?

I have joined Nine Twenty as an account manager for the technical division, and I'll be responsible for a portfolio of clients across the Scottish market. As an account manager it’s my duty to make sure my clients' recruitment needs are met, and that I provide a great service to both my client and candidates while doing so.

  • Can you tell us a little about your background?

I graduated from Northumbria University in Newcastle back in 2015, and after completing my studies, I worked in sales for six months. I then decided I wanted to see a bit of the world and went travelling for five months around New Zealand and South East Asia. When I came back to reality, I joined Frank Recruitment Group as a graduate recruitment consultant. At Pearson Frank I was an IT recruitment consultant, and I covered the London market for all open source and digital requirements. In the time that I was in this role, I managed to build great relationships with clients and candidates around London, and was also able to generate a substantial amount of business.

  • What attracted you to joining Nine Twenty?

I knew that when I moved up to Glasgow I wanted to continue with IT recruitment and join an organisation that had good reputation with clients, and an open and friendly working environment. I was also looking for somewhere that could offer me good career progression opportunities. After an initial meeting with the guys, I knew Nine Twenty was an organisation that ticked all the boxes!

  • How do you feel about moving to Glasgow?

I had lived in Newcastle for over four years, so I was definitely ready for a change! So far Glasgow is proving to be a great city to work in. I actually live close to Loch Lomond which is a beautiful part of Scotland, so I feel lucky to have that on my doorstep.
