Preview – November’s Digital Platform on Cyber Security

 20th Oct 2017

The Digital Platform Meetup returns for its third instalment on Thursday 9th November, and this month we’re looking at Cyber Security.

Nine Twenty Technology - Digital Platform

The issue of Cyber Security has become increasingly prevalent for businesses of all sizes. In 2016, UK SMEs were on average subjected to almost 230,000 cyber attacks each, and the rise of automated attacks means that any business with an internet connection is now at risk. These figures, coupled with the fact that the demand for cyber security experts is currently said to be three times higher than current supply, means that innovative companies are now turning to technology to fight cyber attacks.

At Digital Platform, we’ll hear from three of Scotland’s industry leaders in Cyber Security.

Graeme Gordon, CEO of IFB and Chairman of ScotlandIS

Graeme Gordon - IFB

IFB is a leading Managed Services and Network provider supporting over 800 national and international Oil and Gas, public sector and professional services clients for over 20 years.

Graeme has been with IFB since they launched, and went on to become CEO in 2013 to provide leadership, strategic vision and direction to the business as it looks to expand across the UK.

Graeme has led the company through key and innovative projects including the UK’s first city centre wide public Wi-Fi network, the first Scottish ISP to roll out business broadband services, and most recently connecting the UK to Northern Europe through a trans-North Sea high capacity, low latency fibre cable between Aberdeen and Stavanger. He has also led projects including the application of Virtual and Augmented Reality in complex business and industrial operations and is heavily involved in Industry 4.0 and how this will affect our work and private lives.

Graeme is also Chairman of ScotlandIS (Scotland’s Digital Trade body), a member of the Robert Gordon University Industry Advisory Board, a member of the Scottish Government’s Digital Public Services Advisory Board, and a former Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce Board and Council member. He works on the Digital Strategy Group at Robert Gordon’s College, and has presented and chaired key industry panels and events in the UK, Europe and the US.
